Dr Maria Milosavljevic is the inaugural Chief Data Officer for Department of Human Services (DHS), responsible for defining and implementing data and analytics strategy.
This includes including appropriate data management, use and innovation, and creating the right environment and collaborative arrangements to support this.
Maria is also an Honorary Professor at the Australian National University and Chair of the Australian Computer Society Cyber Security Committee.
Before moving to DHS, Maria was the inaugural NSW Government Chief Information Security Officer. She was responsible for building improved prevention, detection, and a streamlined response to cyber security across NSW.
She established the function, delivered, and implemented a new whole-of-government Cyber Security Strategy, Policy, Incident Response Management Plans, cyber incident exercises and other initiatives.
Before this, Maria was the Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Security Officer of AUSTRAC. She led the creation of leading-edge capabilities for the Fintel Alliance, a world-first public-private partnership. She also chaired international capability improvement committees for the ASEAN region.
Maria completed a PhD in Artificial Intelligence with the Microsoft Research Institute, graduated from ANU with an Executive Masters of Public Administration from the Australia and New Zealand School of Government, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
