The DTA and the Australian Computer Society are calling on agencies across the Australian Public Service to help recognise the people and teams driving digital innovation, service improvement, and technological excellence.

Nominations are open for the ACS & APS Digital Excellence Awards 2026, which celebrate outstanding achievements in digital, data and technology across government.

The awards recognise the individuals and teams whose work is helping deliver better services, stronger capabilities and improved outcomes for Australians.

This year's categories showcase the breadth of innovation happening across the APS:

  • AI Adopter of the Year – recognising responsible and effective use of artificial intelligence.
  • Digital Diversity, Accessibility and Inclusion – celebrating initiatives that create more inclusive and accessible digital outcomes.
  • Lifetime Achievement in Public Sector Innovation – honouring a career of leadership and contribution to digital transformation.
  • Public Sector Digital Ingenuity Award – recognising creative and practical digital solutions delivering real results.
  • Rising Digital Changemaker – celebrating emerging professionals making an early impact.
  • ACS Member Excellence Award – acknowledging outstanding contributions to the technology profession and digital community.

These Digital Excellence Awards provide an opportunity to showcase successful projects. They recognise dedicated public servants and share examples of what's possible when technology, innovation, and public purpose come together.

Whether you're aware of a groundbreaking project, an emerging leader, or a team delivering meaningful improvements for Australians, now is the time to put them forward.

Nominations close on 26 August 2026. Winners will be announced at the ACS & APS Digital Excellence Awards Ceremony on 4 November 2026

The DTA encourages all agencies to review the categories and consider submitting nominations. By recognising excellence, we help strengthen the APS digital profession, share lessons across government and celebrate the people making a difference through digital transformation.
