New Coaching for Women in Digital program

An exciting opportunity now exists for all EL1 women in digital and ICT roles, who are interested in developing skills and connecting with like-minded peers across the Australian Public Service (APS).

Our new Coaching for Women in Digital program has launched. Expressions of interest (EOI) for the 2020 program are now open.

A message from our CEO, Randall Brugeaud:

There’s no question that diverse workforces are more successful, more innovative, more adaptable and more in tune with their customers’ needs.

As Head of the Digital Profession, I am committed to increasing the diversity of our digital workforce in the APS. This includes supporting more women into digital leadership roles.

This year, the DTA has launched a new Coaching for Women in Digital program that provides women in digital roles with the opportunity to reflect and learn, connect with their peers and grow their digital careers. The program is being delivered virtually to allow everyone to take part, no matter where you are. I encourage all EL1 women looking to grow their digital careers to register.

This program is part of how we’re helping to build an APS that continues to deliver quality outcomes for people and businesses.

Key dates

EOI submissions can now be made on the Coaching for Women in Digital program page. Closing date for EOIs is midnight 23 October 2020. Following your EOI, we will ask for formal commitment, which must be confirmed by 30 October 2020.

The program runs from November 2020 to August 2021.  

How the program works

We have designed a program based on positive psychology that focuses on your strengths. It will provide opportunities to reflect, connect and grow:

  • reflect on yourself and what makes you ‘you’
  • connect with coaches and peers across government to share experiences
  • grow by dedicating time to developing your strengths through goal setting.

The program includes 7 x 2-hour virtual group coaching sessions and 2 networking events. You’ll be assigned to a small group where you’ll get to know your peers and share your experiences. In between sessions, you’ll receive coaching challenges aligned with your goals and you’ll be supported by a digital resource and collaboration platform.

The program is flexible so you can select timeslots based on your commitments. 

Develop new skills and progress your career

More women are needed in digital leadership roles. This program will support you to develop new skills and progress your digital career, enabling you to deliver quality government services.

Who can apply?

All EL1 or acting EL1 level women are welcome to apply, including feminine identifying, and non-binary people, who are working in the APS in digital and ICT roles. This includes:

  • roles that design and deliver digital services
  • specialists in human-centred design and agile
  • roles working in areas of digital transformation
  • ICT and cyber security roles
  • managers of digital teams.
